In

Entebbe, Uganda

who takes the wrong luggage at the airport?

Seriously, who does that?! Just because it has the same colour, doesn’t mean you can swap them for yours. Thank you for scaring the hell out of me, random stranger. Luckily they left their own (ugly – might I add) bag with the name tag on. So the security guard could easily call them and make them retrieve my precious clothes at once. Getting to Uganda clearly had been the easy part.

If you’re just checking in, or waking up from hibernating through Winter: welcome. After last year’s “success” in Bosnia, I decided to go on another international experience – to Uganda this time. With two girls from my class, I’m gonna intern at a regional hospital in Lira, a few hunderd kilometers north of the equator.

It's my first time in Africa

You wouldn’t guess it, of course, if you saw me walking by in my cargo Decathlon pants, my fanny pack full of essentials and so many layers of sunscreen I must’ve been shining brighter than the sun. So far, the experience inside our hostel has been amazing (with screaming big birds, fighting monkeys, humming little bees and scary insects). Outside of this safe haven, it’s rather been… let’s keep it at “very mzungu” for now.

Thank you for caring, and reading my very long message just to basically state that I arrived safely. I promise to put in more work in the next stories, but for now, you’ll have to do it with Shakira’s most famous song. It’s time for Africa.
